New BI Tool to Help DSD Suppliers Combat Shrinkage, Out-of-stocks
Prescient's Visibility & Analytics Inventory Module targets direct-store-delivery suppliers servicing grocery, drug, and mass merchant retail accounts
West Chester, PA — September 3, 2008 — Business intelligence specialist Prescient Applied Intelligence has released its Visibility & Analytics (V&A) Inventory Module, aimed at helping direct-story-delivery suppliers servicing grocery, drug, and mass merchant retail accounts reduce shrinkage and out-of-stocks.
The new module expands upon its existing V&A application modules and is aimed at providing suppliers and retailers visibility into critical information that they need to manage the flow of product and to ensure the desired inventory is available on the shelf for the consumer at all times.
V&A is a Web-based business intelligence solution based on Prescient's Demand Signal Repository, an "intelligent" data warehouse that manages point-of-sale and other transactional data from retailers and suppliers.
V&A Inventory keeps track of in-store stock positions and identifies the quantity of product on the shelf at any given time. The application comes with a set of standard reports but is also customizable, allowing users to configure their own reports based on data attributes that are most important to their decision-making process.
Additionally, with delivery information matched against point-of-sale (POS) data, suppliers can identify gaps in flow ratio and make proactive changes to ordering and delivery practices, Prescient said.
Prescient's other V&A modules include V&A Shrink, designed specifically for DSD suppliers that are already conducting scan based trading with Prescient and intended to analyze shrink trends by partner, store, product, packaging, route and time period. V&A Sales was designed to provide insight into trends by store and item as well as year-on-year performance comparisons.
Finally, V&A Performance Analysis offers a scorecarding module that suppliers can configure to specific retailer requirements to track performance across service levels, overstocks, on-time shipments and other indicators.
