Beckman Coulter Selects Oco for Business Intelligence Solution
BI tool helps drive operational improvements and customer satisfaction lab equipment and supplies company
Waltham, MA — September 5, 2008 — Lab equipment and supplies company Beckman Coulter has tapped a software-as-a-service business intelligence solution from Oco to provide advanced reporting and analytics, the solution provider has announced.
Beckman Coulter is a leading manufacturer of biomedical testing instrument systems, tests and supplies aimed at simplifying and automating laboratory processes. The company, based in Fullerton, Calif., reported 2007 annual sales of $2.76 billion with more than 78 percent of this amount generated by recurring revenue from supplies, test kits and services.
The company will deploy Oco's Inventory Management module in its Services business to improve global visibility into key business data needed to reduce costs and improve customer experience. Oco's solution will integrate data from disparate source systems to identify service supply chain performance and inventory levels across multiple geographies, organizations and product lines.
Data integration across multiple enterprise-wide solutions, insightful reports and analytics, and the low-impact software-as-a-service (SaaS) model were key selection criteria for Beckman Coulter, according to Oco. Because Oco manages and maintains the data through an SaaS model, Beckman Coulter's IT staff is freed up to focus on other mission-critical tasks.
To capture and host the data, Oco's business intelligence solution extracts data from multiple sources, then organizes it into an intelligent data schema and drives analytics-based reporting, all in a matter of weeks. Oco said that its Web interface encourages rapid adoption and widespread use of the new solution across multiple geographies.
Because the modules allow users to drill down to a granular level of detail, the company can easily see root causes of issues and identify areas for improvement."
"We selected Oco because of its unique ability to rapidly deploy its solution," said Craig Cole, global strategic operations director for Beckman Coulter. "Another important factor was Oco's ability to integrate data from multiple systems and produce focused reports to understand and drive performance improvement across multiple dimensions of our Services business."
"Our packaged modules of best practices allow Beckman Coulter to get reports and visibility across its service parts business within a matter of weeks," said William Copacino, president and CEO of Oco.
